Stampin’ Up! Sheltering Tree for the Happy Stampers Blog Hop

HappyStampersBlogPostBanner

I used the Stampin’ Up! Sheltering Tree stamp set to create a spring card for the Happy Stampers blog hop.  We’ve got a sketch challenge to play along with this week and this is what I created:

Sheltering Tree - Stamp With Amy K

Here is the sketch that we’re using this week:

Mar 3

I started out with a completely different card in my head, but things changed once I got it down on paper…I had this grand plan to create a window frame effect with looking into the card base with several layers.  I wasn’t happy at all with it when I laid everything out, so I scraped that idea and went back to the basics.  Ever have that happen with a project?  🙂

I pulled out my MISTI for this project so that I’d have the images lined up exactly on the layers.

Sheltering Tree 1 - Stamp With Amy K I started by stamping the tree trunk images from the Sheltering Tree photopolymer stamp set in Crumb Cake ink first on a Thick Whisper White card base, then on a 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ Whisper White card stock panel.

Sheltering Tree 2 - Stamp With Amy K

I stamped the leaf image from the Sheltering Tree stamp set in Blushing Bride, So Saffron and Calypso coral inks across the card front and the card stock panel.  Then I added the grass images in Pear Pizzazz ink.  I cut the center of the Whisper White card stock panel with a Deco Labels Collection Framelits Die, sponged the edges with Blushing Bride ink, then adhered it to the card front with SNAIL.

Sheltering Tree 3 - Stamp With Amy K

I stamped the sentiment from the Sheltering Tree stamp set in Soft Suede ink on a panel of Whisper White card stock, cut it out with the banner die from the Gift Card Envelope & Trims Thinlits Die set, then adhered it with SNAIL to the card front.  I pulled apart a strand of the Calypso Coral Thick Baker’s Twine and I threaded part of it through a Vintage Faceted Designer Button, tied a bow and adhered it to the card front with a Glue Dot.

Sheltering Tree 4 - Stamp With Amy K

I stamped the tree images from the Sheltering Tree stamp set in Blushing Bride and Crumb Cake inks on a Whisper White panel inside the card.

  1. Such a pretty card! I like your color choices for the trees. Also enjoy the reminder that there is hope for Spring.

  2. Hi Amy, What is a Misti? Is it similar to a stampamajig? I’ve never seen or heard of a Misti. Thanks Karen

  3. I love the soft Spring colors too, lol! Nice way to add definition by sponging the edges of the Deco panel. There are a few trees in the neighborhood that look just like your beautiful trees….*sigh, can’t wait for Spring 😉

  4. Glad to see you using the Sheltering Tree, one of my faves! My first thought was how did she get those lined up–you explain that so well. I love my MISTI too and will give this a try. Love the way you sponged the deco label. Very pretty card. Snowing here tonight but I’m ready for spring!
