Stampin’ Up! Father Christmas Card

I used the Stampin’ Up! Father Christmas and Hardwood stamps to create my card to share today.  I love the vintage feel of that Santa image!

My card design was inspired by My Favorite Things Wednesday Sketch Challenge 304.

My card was also inspired by The Paper Players PP319.  My card went down the left side with Red, Santa and a Die Cut.

I think that this also works for the Merry Monday #220 Door Challenge.

I started by inking the Hardwood image in Soft Suede ink, stamping it on scrap paper and then stamping it on a panel of Shimmery White card stock.  I placed an Ovals Collection Framelits die over the center of the stamped panel and ran it through the Big Shot to cut the frame out and then I sponged a little Soft Suede in around the edges and die cut area.

I placed a piece of Shimmery White card stock under the frame and lightly traced around the oval with a pencil so that I’d have a guide to stamp the Father Christmas image.  I lifted the frame off and stamped the image from the Father Christmas stamp set in Basic Gray Archival ink.  I used Blender Pens along with Cherry Cobbler, Garden Green, Crumb Cake, Soft Suede, Delightful Dijon and Pink Pirouette inks to add color to the image.  I also added some Clear Wink of Stella to the fur trim on the coat, but that doesn’t show up well in the photos.  I erased my pencil lines and then adhered the two stamped panels together with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I adhered a thin strip of DSP from the Warmth & Comfort DSP Stack to the right side of a panel of Cherry Cobbler card stock with SNAIL.  Then I adhered the layered stamped images to the Cherry Cobbler card stock panel with SNAIL.  I also adhered the layered panel to the card front with SNAIL.  I inked the sentiment from the Father Christmas stamp set with Cherry Cobbler, Garden Green and Soft Suede Stampin’ Write Markers and stamped it on a panel of Shimmery White card stock.  I punched the image out with a 1-1/4″ Circle Punch, sponged the edges with Soft Suede ink and adhered it with SNAIL to a 1-3/8″ Circle Punch from Cherry Cobbler card stock.

I punched a strip of Garden Green card stock with the Banner Triple Punch and adhered it to the back of the sentiment circles with SNAIL and then adhered the sentiment to the card front with SNAIL.  I added an enamel star from the Regals Enamel Shapes pack next to the sentiment to finish the card front.

I inked the sentiment from the Stitched with Cheer photopolymer stamp set in Garden Green and Cherry Cobbler inks and stamped it on a panel of Shimmery White card stock.  I placed the oval that I’d cut out of the panel for the card front over the sentiment, inked up the Hardwood image in Soft Suede ink, stamped it on scrap paper and then stamped it over the sentiment panel on the inside of the card.

  1. Another phenomenal Christmas card Amy! I love how you brought the hardwood into play with the old time Saint Nick. Awesome vintage look and another 3fer!! Wow 😀

  2. A great card, Amy! I love this wood grain stamp and I use mine frequently. It’s perfect with this vintage Santa stamp too. Thanks for sharing with the Paper Players this week.
