I used the Stampin’ Up! Nailed It stamp set bundle to create a fun masculine valentine to share with you today.
My card design was loosely inspired by CAS(E) this Sketch #205.
And the valentine theme for my card was inspired by TGIF Challenge #91.
I started by adhering a panel from the Urban Underground Speciality DSP pack to a panel of Basic Black card stock with SNAIL. Then I embossed two strips of Silver Foil Sheets with the ruler from the Build It Framelits Die and adhered them about 1/2″ from the right side and bottom of the panel with SNAIL.
I adhered a panel from the Urban Underground DSP over the embossed ruers with SNAIL and then added one final panel from the Urban Underground DSP over that layer with SNAIL. I stamped the saw images from the Nailed It stamp set in Basic Gray Archival ink on a panel of watercolor paper and I used the Early Espresso and Basic Gray Watercolor Pencils to color the images.
I used an Aqua Painter to blend the pencils and then used a Delightful Dijon Stampin’ Write Marker to fill in the dots on the images. I let them dry completely and then cut the images out with the Build It Framelits Die and adhered them with SNAIL to the card front.
I punched hearts with the Sweetheart Punch from Very Vanilla and Basic Gray card stocks and adhered them together and to the card front with SNAIL. I stamped the sentiment in Basic Black Archival ink on a panel of Delightful Dijon card stock, cut it out with the Build It Framelits Die and adhered it to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
I inked and stamped off twice the saw image from the Nailed It stamp set and then stamped it randomly over a Very Vanilla card stock panel inside the card.

Marvelous card, Amy. Your ruler on foil looks so life like and the saws are so cool.
Thanks Linda! 🙂
EXCELLENT JOB!! What a great masculine card for the upcoming V-Day…….which is usually kind of a “mushy” type day!! I really, really like this card………did I tell you I really like this card??!!
Ha! Thanks Karen, I’m glad that you liked it! We’re not much into the “mushy stuff” and my husband loves to do carpentry work so this stamp set and that sentiment I thought worked perfectly! 🙂
Oooh, love the ruler! Any tips on making look as good as yours? Love that you highlighted it with the DSP, makes it pop even more 😉 Your watercolored saws are awesome! I am having a blast with the watercolor pencils 🙂
Thanks Jill! It was actually really easy. I just cut a couple of 1/2″ wide strips from the Silver Foil Sheets and then lined the edge of the ruler die up with the edge of the paper and ran it through the big shot. There was a bit of a bump from the opposite edge of the die on the paper, but I just tucked it under the layer above it. 🙂 Glad that you’re liking those pencils too! They’re so much fun! 🙂
Thanks Amy! “It looks so real”, I think that is going to be catch phrase, lol 😉
Wow, that ruler looks real! Such a great job on this masculine card! Love the colors and all of the cool elements!
Thanks Jari! 🙂
VERY nice! Love the embossed silver rulers – especially set at the 90d angle – looks very
“tool-like”!! Great card!! 🙂
Ha! Thanks Mary! 🙂
This is fabulous, Amy! Those embossed silver strips look amazing– such a perfect addition to your card and take on the sketch!
Thanks for stopping by to leave a comment! 🙂
Busy day yesterday but always try to catch your blog. My first thought was, “Oh, I love those rulers!” And I see everyone else did too! So unexpected and fits so well there. Great masculine V-Day card!
Thanks Susan! 🙂
