Stampin’ Up! Hey, Chick Masking Technique

I used the Stampin’ Up! Sale-a-bration exclusive Hey, Chick stamp set to create a fun card to share with you today.  I used the Post-It Note masking technique to stamp the chicks and then did a little watercoloring to finish the image.

My card design was inspired by Freshly Made Sketches #274.

I started by adhering a panel from the Brights DSP Stack to a panel of Whisper White card stock with SNAIL.  I wrapped a strand of Bermuda Bay Thick Baker’s Twine around the panel twice and tied a bow and then adhered the layered panel to a Bermuda Bay card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I stamped the crazy hair chicken image from the Hey, Chick stamp set (Sale-a-bration item) on a Post-It Note and snipped around it to create the mask for stamping the chicken images on the focal panel.  I stamped the crazy hair chicken image first on the panel of watercolor paper in Basic Black Archival Ink and then placed the Post-It Note mask over it.  I stamped the other two chicken images from the Hey, Chick stamp set in Basic Black Archival ink over it and then removed the mask and stamped the sentiment.

I colored the chicken images with the Watercolor Pencils and used a Blender Pen to blend the colors a little.  I let the image dry completely and then adhered it to a panel of Bermuda Bay card stock with Fast Fuse Adhesive.  I adhered the watercolored panel to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals and then added a Rhinestone Basic Jewel to finish the card front.

I stamped the crazy hair chicken from the Hey, Chick stamp set in Bermuda Bay ink on a panel of Whisper White card stock inside the card.
