Stampin’ Up! Builder Birdcage for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

happy-inkin-thursday-blog-hop-bannerI used the Stampin’ Up! Builder Birdcage stamp set to create my card for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop today.  We’ve got a sketch challenge and this is what I created for it.

Here is the sketch that we’re using this week:

feb-16

The colors for my card were inspired by The Paper Players PP331.

I started by stamping the images from the Builder Birdcage photopolymer stamp set in VersaMark ink on a panel of Whisper White card stock.  I sprinkled the images with Copper Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat embossed them.  I did find it easier to stamp emboss the larger birdcage one piece at a time rather than trying to get everything lined up using just the VersaMark inked images.

I stamped the little bird images from the Builder Birdcage stamp set in Smoky Slate and Blushing Bride inks on the panel.  I adhered a strip of Blushing Bride Glimmer Paper to the right side of the panel and then adhered the stamped panel to a panel of Copper Foil Sheets with SNAIL.  I adhered the layered panel to a Blushing Bride card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I stamped the sentiment on a strip of White Vellum in VersaMark Ink and then heat embossed it with Copper Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  I punched the end of the sentiment strip with the Banner Triple Punch and then adhered it with rolled up Glue Dots (one under the sentiment and one under the enamel shape).  I adhered a Blushing Bride enamel dot from the Subtles Enamel Shapes pack to finish the card front.

I stamped the images from the Builder Birdcage stamp set in Smoky Slate and Blushing Bride inks on a panel of Whisper White card stock inside the card.

  1. Super elegant with all the copper touches and the subtle wink of the glimmer paper 🙂 You really think outside the box very well, lol! 😉

  2. Very pretty Amy – I love your trio of copper bird cages and the strip of glimmer paper that makes for an eye-catching border. Thanks for joining us over at The Paper Players this week!

  3. Iv’e decided when in doubt, use copper! You do marvels with copper and this card proves that! I’m not a big fan of that stamp set either but I love what you did with it here. Kudos to you!

  4. Oh I love the idea of copper birdcages–your card has a lovely Victorian feel to it that is perfect with these colors. Love the trio of cages and your stamping on the inside–thank you for joining us at The Paper Players!
