Stampin’ Up! Magical Mermaid Birthday Card

I used the Stampin’ Up! Magical Mermaid and Marbled stamp sets to create a fun birthday card to share with you today.

My card design was inspired by Stamp Ink Paper 103.

And the colors for my card were inspired by Color Throwdown #447.

I started by stamping the image from the Marbled background stamp in Soft Sky ink on a panel of Soft Sky card stock.  Then I stamped the mermaid image from the Magical Mermaid stamp set in VersaMark Ink on the lower right side of the panel, sprinkled it with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat embossed it.

I stamped the sentiment from the Magical Mermaid stamp set in Night of Navy ink and then quickly sprinkled part of it with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat embossed it.  I stamped the mermaid image on a Post-It Note and snipped around it, placed it over the stamped panel to create a mask and then stamped the bubble and seaweed images in Pear Pizzazz and Sahara Sand inks around the mermaid.

I removed the mask and then adhered the stamped panel to a panel of Gold Foil Sheets with SNAIL.  I wrapped a stand of Linen Thread around the panel twice and tied a bow with a small piece of Gold Mini Sequin Trim tied in it.  I adhered the layered panel to a Night of Navy card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals to finish it.

I stamped the sentiment and mermaid images from the Magical mermaid stamp set in Night of Navy and Soft Sky inks on a panel of Whisper White card stock.  I inked the Marbled stamp again in Soft Sky ink, stamped it on scrap paper and then stamped it over the Whisper White card stock panel.  I stamped the seaweed and sand images in Pear Pizzazz and Sahara Sand inks on the panel inside the card.

You can see a list of supplies to create this card, including card stock cuts, at the very bottom of this blog post.

My 11 year-old daughter was busy coloring and creating a birthday card this week too!  She loves ocean images in the Just Add Color Specialty DSP.  She picked all of the colors, colored the images with Stampin’ Write Markers and then decided which sentiment she wanted to use.

She cut the sentiment out with the banner die from the Bunch of Banners and then stamped one of the shells from the So Many Shells stamp set, cut it out and added it under the sentiment.

And she couldn’t leave the inside of the card without stamping a little something on it, so she added the sentiment and another sea shell from the So Many Shells stamp set.  She was pretty happy with the way that it turned out…and I think that she can color as well or better than I can!  😉
