I put a masculine card together to share with you today using the Truly Grateful stamp set and Venetian Romance DSP from Stampin’ Up!  Who knew that you could create a “manly” card with designer paper called Venetian Romance??  🙂  My card design was inspired by the Retrosketches #83.

I started by cutting a 5″ x 5″ square of Naturals Ivory card stock.  I cut the square in half from point to point making two triangles.  I stamped one of the triangles with the woodgrain image from the Truly Grateful stamp set in Soft Suede ink.  I stamped the image off once on scrap paper before stamping it on the card stock and I used the Stamp-a-ma-jig to help me with placement.

Then I stamped the sentiment in Cajun Craze ink and the image of the wheat in VersaMark ink.  I sprinkled the wheat image with Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat embossed it, then used my Aqua Painter and Whisper White Craft ink pad and I “painted” over the wheat image with the craft ink and water mix.  I let the image dry and I wiped off the white ink from the black embossed areas.  Then I colored the wheat image with Summer Starfruit and Cajun Craze Stampin’ Write Markers.

If you’re interested, I did a quick tutorial for the whitewash technique and you can see it by clicking here.  I used the whitewash technique on this card so that the woodgrain stamped image would not show through when I colored the image with my markers.

I adhered the stamped triangle to a panel of Venetian Romance DSP with SNAIL and I snipped off the side points that hung over the DSP panel.  I adhered the layered panel to a Soft Suede card base, then adhered two Cajun Craze buttons with Glue Dots after I’d looped Natural Linen Thread through them.

I finished the inside of the card by adhering a panel of Naturals Ivory card stock that I’d stamped with the wood image from the Truly Grateful stamp set.

I really like the Naturals Card Stock.  It’s got pretty flecks throughout and it’s a nice, heavyweight paper so it stamps and layers beautifully.  It comes in Ivory (101849) and White (102316) and it’s $7.50 for a pack of 40 sheets!
