Wetlands Birthday Card – Stampin’ Up!

I used the Wetlands stamp set from Stampin’ Up! to create a masculine birthday card to share with you today.  My card design was inspired by Freshly Made Sketches #138 and CAS-ual Fridays CFC132.

I started by embossing a panel of Chocolate Chip card stock with the Woodgrain Embossing Folder.  I adhered the embossed panel to a panel of Hello Honey card stock with SNAIL, then to a Mossy Meadow card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Wetlands 3 - Stamp With Amy K

I colored the bird image from the Wetlands stamp set with my Chocolate Chip and Mossy Meadow Stampin’ Write Markers and I stamped it on a Very Vanilla panel.  Then I stamped the image again on a Post-it note and cut it out with my Paper Snips to create a mask.

Wetlands 1 - Stamp With Amy K

I placed the mask over the stamped image, then inked up the sea grass image from the Wetlands stamp set with my Mossy Meadow and Hello Honey Stampin’ Write Markers and stamped it over the masked image.  Then I stamped the sentiment from the Wetlands stamp set in Mossy Meadow ink on the  panel and I rounded the corners with the Project Life Corner Punch.

Wetlands 2 - Stamp With Amy K

I layered the stamped image over a panel of Mossy Meadow card stock that I’d also punched with the Project Life Corner Punch.  Then I adhered a loop of Mossy Meadow 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon to the back of the layered panel with SNAIL and tied a bit of Linen Thread through a Basic Metal Button and I adhered it to the card front with a Glue Dot.  I finished the card by adhering the stamped panel to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Wetlands 4 - Stamp With Amy K

I colored the sea grass image again and stamped it on a panel of Very Vanilla card stock to complete the inside of the card.

  1. I was trying to make a few masculine cards yesterday and nothing seemed right. Here it the inspiration I needed! Thanks, Amy! Great card!

  2. I like how she made a mask just to color the grass heads. and look- email is working….we are thinking maybe it was a google issue…

  3. I love your masculine card as well 🙂 Loving the corner rounding with the PL rounder, I’ve got to get that (I took it off this order-ah well). Agree with Kelly about the subtle way you added the ribbon on the card, it looks great that way. Going to have to try that step. Your masking is first rate! It can be time consuming but your card makes it look so worthwhile. Thanks Amy, for another card to case!

    • Thanks Jill! The main tip that I have with masking is to use Post-it notes (my upline taught me that). They’ve got a sticky part to it stays put on your image and they’re thinner than card stock so you don’t get the line around you image where the stamp can’t reach the paper. Works great!
