Fun Kids Artwork Note Cards – Stampin’ Up!

If you’ve been following my blog for awhile, you probably know that I have a daughter with Autism.  One of her very favorite activities is painting.  She will paint with watercolors, finger paints, regular paints, really any type of paint.  We’ve got stacks and stacks of her little works of art (she can do 4-5 in a given session) and I’ve been trying to figure out what to do with all of them.

When my Mother-in-law asked me to make her some note cards with the sentiment that I’d used on my card for World Autism Awareness Day (you can see that card here), I had an idea…and this is what I made for her.

Perfect Pennants 1 - Stamp With Amy K

This was a super simple and fun project.  I cut the fabulous paintings that my daughter made into 3-1/4″ x 4-3/4″ panels, stamped the sentiment from the Perfect Pennants stamp set in StazOn Jet Black Ink on them and adhered them to the precut note cards that you can see on page 194 of the catalog.

Here are some individual shots of some of the cards.  Each one is unique with its own colors and design.

Perfect Pennants 2 - Stamp With Amy K

I made two dozen note cards and I think these two are my favorites from the set.

And here is my little artist at work creating more paintings.  Yes, she does love to paint her hands and use them to apply the paint to the paper as well.  🙂

You can find a complete list of supplies, including card stock cuts, at the very bottom of this post.

  1. Amy these are so special! Each one is a unique and beautiful work of art. And how fun for it to be a mother-daughter collaboration. I did a mixed media canvas recently with flowers and butterflies punched from a piece of artwork my daughter did about five years ago. I smile each time I look at it.

  2. Amy, what a fabulous idea! As a grandmother, myself, I can’t imagine your MIL not being overjoyed with your daughters artistic creations. I just don’t know if she will be able to part with any of them. LOL

  3. Wow I love this idea. I have a daughter with Cerbral Palsy and she love to draw. She makes things all the time a well and I don’t know what to do with them. This is a great idea. Thank you for sharing a wonderful store and project with us. Blessings to you and your family

  4. What a wonderful idea for creating such beautiful note cards made with love. Hats off to you and your daughter!

  5. What an awesone idea! The cards are beautiful and what a wonderful gift for your mother in law. I hope you stamped on the back that they were handmade by your daughter. 🙂

  6. What a wonderful & so special, idea!! When my grandsons were younger, my daughter would take the large paper they painted on & use it to wrap the birthday gifts & make the enclosures to their friends. Like your daughter’s cards, it is such a personal & loving gift!! Thank u for sharing something so sweet!

  7. What a precious beautiful idea. Love the cards that are made with love. Thanks for sharing

  8. Already left a note on Facebook but just wanted to say again what beautiful and colorful cards these are! Maybe you could turn this idea into a huge way of raising funds for Autism if other mothers have artwork available.

  9. what a great idea. But are your daughter and your MIL really willing to give away these msterpieces? Bet your daughter will be wanting to make more and more of these.

  10. Amy, it’s so wonderful that you and your daughter can share your love of crafting together! My son used to make his art pieces and we used to give them as cards as well. My daughter is coming up to that age and we’ll continue the tradition 🙂 I wish we could see what they do 🙂

I agree with the others, these would make a wonderful fundraiser item as well! I also like the sentiment from Work of Art for your daughter’s beautiful pieces.

Can’t wait to see her next projects, thank you for sharing these with us 🙂

    Take care, Jill

  11. This is just an amazing and beautiful idea! Anybody would be thrilled to receive those cards, but to a grandmother from a grandchild is just that much more special!

  12. This is a great idea! I did this with some artwork my son did in elementary school, except I took the original to a copy centre and had them print out about 20 of the art onto regular cards. Each grandma got these for Mother’s Day one year. This way I got to keep the original and they got a beautiful mostly handmade gift!
