Stampin’ Up! Santa Stache Nutcracker Card

I made a fun holiday card with the Santa Stache stamp set from Stampin’ Up!  The Mustache Framelit that matches this stamp set is on sale in the Weekly Deals so right now is a great time to pick them both up!

Santa Stache - Stamp With Amy K

My card design was inspired by Retrosketches #136.

I started by adhering a panel of Night of Navy DSP from the Regals DSP Stacks to a panel of Whisper White card stock.  Then I embossed a panel of Night of Navy card stock with the Lucky Stars Embossing Folder and I adhered the panel to the Whisper White panel with SNAIL as well.

I added a strip of Champagne Glimmer Paper over the seam, using Fast Fuse Adhesive to adhere it, then adhered the layered panel to a Night of Navy card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I stamped the nutcracker image from the Santa Stache stamp set in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and colored it with my Night of Navy, Daffodil Delight, Crumb Cake and Skin Tone Assortment Stampin’ Blendabilities Markers.

Santa Stache 3 - Stamp With Amy K

I layered the stamped image over a panel of Night of Navy card stock and punched them both with the Angled Tag Topper Punch, then trimmed the stamped panel down just a little and I adhered them together with SNAIL.  I pulled a piece of Night of Navy 1/2″ Seam Binding Ribbon through the hole punch and tied it at the top with Gold Baker’s Twine, then adhered the tag to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I stamped the mustache image from the Santa Stache stamp set a second time in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on a Whisper White panel, colored it with my Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blendabilities Markers and cut it out with the Mustache Framelits Die. I adhered the mustache to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I stamped the sentiment from the Santa Stache stamp set in Night of Navy ink on a Whisper White panel and cut it out with the smallest banner from the Itty Bitty Banners Framelits die set.  I adhered it with SNAIL to a Night of Navy card stock banner that was cut with the largest banner from the Itty Bitty Banners Framelits die set.

For the larger banner under the sentiment, I cut two of the small banners from Champagne Glimmer Paper and two of the larger banners from Night of Navy card stock.  I adhered the large and small banners together with SNAIL, then trimmed about 1/3″ from one end of each banner.  I adhered the trimmed banners to the card front with SNAIL, then adhered the sentiment banner over the seam with Fast Fuse Adhesive.

Santa Stache 4 - Stamp With Amy K

I stamped the sentiment from the Santa Stache stamp set in Night of Navy ink on a Whisper White panel inside the card.  Then I inked up the nutcracker image in Night of Navy ink, stamped it off on scrap paper three times, then stamped it over the sentiment.  In looking at it, I probably could have stamped it off one more time to make the sentiment inside the card a little easier to see.  🙂

  1. Amy this is completely adorable! I love your use of blue as it looks so unique. The “stache” reminds me of the guy on Mythbusters:)

  2. Heehee, he looks so stern to me as he asks “nutty or nice?”! I guess that is the military wife in me coming out, as blues represent the uniform 🙂 Although, he is out of regs with his mustache, lol!! Okay, I do really like the color choices you made and the champagne glitter strip is the perfect foil (ahh, a little like the brass/gold uniform pieces)… Another great idea Amy 😉
