Stampin’ Up! Wondrous Wreath in Green and Gold

This color challenge threw me for a loop!  I started and threw out 4 other cards before it finally occurred to me that these colors would be perfect for a Christmas card with the Wondrous Wreath stamp set from Stampin’ Up!  And on top of that…I’m getting a head start on my holiday cards for 2015!!

Wondrous Wreath - Stamp With Amy K

The colors for my card were inspired by Pals Paper Arts #242.

Screen Shot 2015-03-08 at 1.41.04 PMI started by stamping the sentiment from the Wondrous Wreath stamp set in Tuxedo Black Memento ink on a Whisper White panel.  Then I embossed the panel with the Woodgrain Embossing Folder and adhered it with SNAIL to a panel from the Gold Foil Sheets.

Wondrous Wreath 2 - Stamp With Amy K

I adhered the layered panels to a Garden Green card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals, then went to work on the wreath.

Wondrous Wreath 3 - Stamp With Amy K

I stamped the full wreath image from the Wondrous Wreath stamp set in Garden Green ink on a Whisper White panel.  Then I inked up the partial wreath image in Garden Green ink and stamped it over the first image.  I stamped the berry image in Gold Metallic Encore Ink over the wreath images, then cut the wreath out with the matching Wonderful Wreath Framelits Dies and adhered it to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Wondrous Wreath 1 - Stamp With Amy K

I stamped the bow image from the Wondrous Wreath stamp set in VersaMark ink on a panel of Gold Foil Sheets and I heat embossed it with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  I cut the image out with the matching die from the Wonderful Wreath Framelits set and adhered it to the card front with a Glue Dot.

Wondrous Wreath 4 - Stamp With Amy K

I stamped the sentiment from the Wondrous Wreath stamp set in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on a Whisper White panel, then stamped the wreath images in Garden Green and the flower images in Gold Metallic Encore Ink to finish the inside of the card.

One Christmas card done…only about 149 more to go!!  🙂

  1. I think the color scheme is very nice. Your cards are always beautiful. Would maybe look good with Sheltering Trees stamp set with a gold swing or gold under stamp leaves and green over.

  2. Light Bulb moments……Lol! Here’s what I did with the color challenge-I immediately clicked it off my computer, then I said to Mike, “Guess what the PPA colors were this week? Can you believe that?” I don’t stress over something that just doesn’t make sense, at the time anyhow. To me, those colors don’t work for this time of year, but they certainly work well for Christmas. You are a smart girl, but too bad you had to throw away 4 other cards while trying to process what to do. Thanks for being candid, Amy! I laughed because we’ve all been there at some time….Your card is very pretty with the gold ribbon and berries, and using the black for the sentiment and nothing else is perfection! I give you an AAA+++!

    • Thanks Roberta! I’m glad that I’m not the only one who’s tossed more than one card out before getting one that I like. 🙂 My problem was that I had a particular stamp set that I was trying to use and I just couldn’t make it work. Once I finally let go of the set, this was came together really quickly! 🙂

  3. I agree with Linda, your final result is terrific! I love that you did a Christmas card, great idea for these colors! Thanks for joining us at the Pals Paper Arts this week.

  4. I love that you did such an elegant Christmas card. The green and gold colors make me think of St. Pat’s Day but I always enjoy your “out of the box” ideas!

  5. Those colors do look very tough to incorporate together. Especially this time of year. I have a huge amount of respect for all the crafters that do any of these challenges or sketches or anything like this. You guys rock!!

And your card is awesome and perfect for the challenge!! I’m jealous that you are getting a huge start to making your Christmas cards this year 😉

    • Thanks Jill! Glad that you liked it. And I wish that I had a huge start on making my cards…this is only the first one!! Hoping to sneak a few in here and there so that I’m not scrambling at the last second again (as I always seem to be doing!!)

  6. Hi Amy…now this is what I call getting a jump on the Holiday Cards! GREAT card, just love your work and I simply cannot image that you had a tough time with this palette…..you are sooooo darn creative and it is always a treat to see your work! Thanks for playing this week and sharing such a great card!

  7. Sorry you had to throw a bunch of cards away, but…releived that I’m not the only one that gets “focused” on a stamp set (or a DSP) and has to try several iterations before deciding it really IS okay to change horses in mid-stream! 😉 Love this card. And, think it’s probably time to go ahead and get the Wondrous Wreath set….

    • Thanks Mary! Yep, some card making days are like that…I just kept trying and trying and finally when I threw in thew towel on that stamp set, this card happened. 🙂
