I used the Stampin’ Up! stamp set From Land to Sea to create my card for the Totally Techniques blog hop. This is a fun, new, once a month hop that focuses on techniques. I hope that you enjoy it! This month we’re focusing on watercoloring embossed images and here is my card:
I started by stamping the Hardwood image in Whisper White Craft Stampin’ Ink on a panel of Soft Sky card stock, I used my Heat Tool to dry the ink quickly but that isn’t required. Then I used my Simply Scored Scoring Tool and I scored a panel of Very Vanilla card stock every 1/2″. I sponged the edges of both panels with Sahara Sand ink and adhered them to a panel of Sahara Sand card stock with SNAIL, then to a Real Red card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
I cut the top of a window frame from some scrap Sahara Sand card stock with the Hearth & Home Thinlits Die. I trimmed the ends so that they were straight, then cut the die cut in half, sponged the edges with Sahara Sand ink and adhered the pieces over the seam between the Soft Sky and Very Vanilla card stocks.
I used Marina Mist and Soft Sky ink along with my Aqua Painter to add a little color to a panel of Watercolor Paper. Then I stamped the lighthouse and ship’s wheel images from the From Land to Sea stamp set in VersaMark ink on a separate panel of Watercolor Paper, sprinkled them with Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat embossed them. I used my Aqua Painter with Sahara Sand ink to paint the ship’s wheel and my Aqua Painter with Real Red, Sahara Sand and So Saffron inks to paint the lighthouse. I allowed the images to dry completely, then I cut them out.
I adhered the lighthouse to the Marina Mist/Soft Sky watercolored panel then adhered the watercolored panel to the card front with Fast Fuse adhesive. I cut a window frame with the Hearth & Home Thinlits Die from Sahara Sand card stock and adhered it with Stampin’ Dimensionals over the Watercolor Paper and I added the ship’s wheel image with a Glue Dot to the window frame. Then I drew three little birds with my Basic Black Stampin’ Write marker in the upper right window opening.
I stamped the banner from the Endless Thanks photopolymer stamp set in Sahara Sand ink on a panel of Very Vanilla card stock, then I stamped the sentiment in VersaMark Ink, sprinkled it with Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder and I heat embossed it. I cut the banner out, sponged the edges with Sahara Sand ink and adhered it to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals under the left side and SNAIL under the right side.
I stamped the lighthouse image from the From Land to Sea stamp set in Sahara Sand ink on a panel of Very Vanilla card stock, then sponged the edges with Sahara Sand ink on the inside of the card.
