Stampin’ Up! Best Thoughts in Sweet Sugarplum

I used the Stampin’ Up! Best Thoughts Host Exclusive stamp set and a little Sweet Sugarplum, Smoky Slate and Peekaboo Peach ink to create my card to share today.

Best Thoughts - Stamp With Amy K

My card theme was inspired by The Card Concept #54.  I would say that this falls under the clean and layered category.

The colors for my card were inspired by Cupcake Inspirations 358.

The butterfly on my card was inspired by Just Us Girls #342.

I started by stamping the flower and butterfly images from the Best Thoughts host exclusive stamp set (retiring) in Basic Black Archival ink on a panel of Watercolor Paper.  I used my Aqua Painter and a little Sweet Sugarplum ink (available June 1), Peekaboo Peach ink (available June 1) and Smoky Slate ink to paint the images.

Best Thoughts 2 - Stamp With Amy K

I used Peekaboo Peach ink to do a light watercolor wash over the background of the panel.  I did a video tutorial on watercoloring where I show you how I do my watercolor wash backgrounds and you can see it here.  After I completed the background, I used a little Smoky Slate ink and my Aqua Painter to outline the flower and butterfly images, then I let the panel dry completely.

Best Thoughts 3 - Stamp With Amy K

Once the panel was dry, I stamped the sentiment from the Watercolor Wishes photopolymer stamp set in Smoky Slate ink next to the flower image.  I adhered the watercolored panel to a panel of Sweet Sugarplum card stock with Fast Fuse Adhesive, then pulled a strand of Smoky Slate Thick Baker’s Twine (retiring) apart and wrapped half of it around the panel and tied a bow.

I adhered the layered panel to a Smoky Slate card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals, then added a single Rhinestone Basic Jewel next to the bow to complete it.

I inked the flower image from the Best Thoughts stamp set in Sweet Sugarplum ink, stamped it on scrap paper, then stamped it on a Very Vanilla panel inside the card.

  5. Hi Amy,

I’ve been receiving your posts for some time and noticed you have the Best Thoughts listed for sale at the bottom. This was a hostess set and am wondering if it can be simply be purchased. Please advise. Thanks!! B

    • You are correct, the Best Thoughts stamp set is a Host Exclusive stamp set and it can be purchased with Host Cash/Stampin’ Rewards only. It does show up as available for sale for the amount of Host Cash that you can purchase it with. Sorry for the confusion.
