I wanted to say a big welcome to Jaimie Babarczy who is a new member of the Happy Stampers Blog Hop Group! Jaimie is from Albany, NY and she’ll be joining us for the blog hops starting today. 🙂
I used the Stampin’ Up! Merry Mice stamp set from the upcoming 2016 Holiday Catalog to create my card for the Happy Stampers blog hop. We’ve got a color challenge this week and this is what I created for it.
Here are the colors that we’re using this week:
I started by adhering a panel from the Serene Scenery DSP Stack to an Old Olive card base with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
I stamped the star image from the Merry Mice stamp set (available Sept 1) in Crumb Cake ink across a Crumb Cake card stock panel and then adhered the panel at an angle across the card front with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
I stamped the mouse image and sentiment from the Merry Mice stamp set in Basic Black Archival ink on a panel of watercolor paper and I used my Bermuda Bay ink pad and an Aqua Painter to lightly wash the background in color.
Since I sometimes have trouble with my inks going over the lines when I watercolor small images, I used my Crumb Cake, Old Olive, Bermuda Bay and Blushing Bride Stampin’ Write Markers and an Aqua Painter to color and then watercolor the mouse, branch and ornament. I found that coloring the images with a marker and then brushing lightly over them with my Aqua Painter and only water allowed me to add color without it running together while at the same time it took the lines from the marker away. I was happy to discover that trick worked! 🙂
I let the watercolor panel dry completely and then adhered it with Multipurpose Liquid Glue to a panel of Bermuda Bay card stock. I adhered the watercolored panel to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals and added a So Saffron enamel star from the Subtles Enamel Shapes pack to finish it.
I stamped the sentiment from the Merry Mice stamp set in Old Olive ink on a Whisper White card stock panel. I inked the image of the three little mice in Crumb Cake ink, stamped it on scrap paper and then stamped it on the panel inside the card.

The little mouse is cute to start with but you make him a star! Thanks for the watercoloring tip too. I’ll have to try that (but you know I’m watercoloring challenged!)
Thanks Susan! Definitely try the marker trick…it worked much better for the small places for me. 🙂

Another super cutie for a Christmas card, Amy! Love the tilted panels! Thank you so much for the marker/aqua painter tip! I know what you mean about the markers leaving lines and not looking water colored. ) : But now we know a way to erase those lines, don’t we~
Thanks Roberta! Hope that the watercoloring trick works for you too! 🙂
The mouse is just too cute!!! Great card!
