Stampin’ Up! Jar of Cheer Shaker Snow Globe Card

I used the Stampin’ Up! Jar of Cheer stamp set to create a fun shaker snow globe card for Christmas.

My card design was inspired by Freshly Made Sketches 257.

I started by adhering a panel from the Serene Scenery DSP Stack to a panel of Whisper White card stock with SNAIL and then to a Garden Green card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I adhered a smaller panel of Garden Green card stock over the DSP panel with SNAIL.

I stamped the jar image from the Jar of Cheer photopolymer stamp set in Basic Gray Archival Ink on a panel of Watercolor Paper.  I used Pool Party ink and an Aqua Painter to do a light watercolor wash over the panel.  I let the paper dry completely and then stamped the tree image from the Jar of Cheer stamp set in Garden Green ink inside the jar.

I blotted as much water as I could from my AquaPainter and used it to brush over the tree image to add a little color.  I let the image dry completely and then came back with the tree stamp and stamped it over the original tree to add the details back.  I stamped the snowflake image from the Jar of Cheer stamp set in Soft Sky ink over the background.

I used an Everyday Jar Framelits die to cut a panel of Whisper White card stock.  I stamped the sentiment and snowflake images from the Jar of Cheer stamp set in Garden Green and Soft Sky inks across the die cut panel.  Then I stamped the lid for the jar with the Jar of Cheer stamp set in VersaMark Ink, sprinkled it with Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat embossed it.  I cut the lid out with the matching Everyday Jars Framelits Die.

I adhered a Window Sheet to the back of the die cut panel with Fast Fuse Adhesive and then added Foam Adhesive Strips around the die cut jar and the edges on the back of the Whisper White panel.  I ran my Embossing Buddy over the Window Sheet and around the edges of the Foam Adhesive strip (before peeling the backing off) to help reduce the number of sequins that stick to the edges.

I placed a small pile of Soft Sky sequins from the Fancy Frost Sequins pack and a pinch of the white mica flakes from the Mica Flakes Trio Pack over the watercolored tree image.  I peeled the backing off the Foam Adhesive strips that I’d placed around the jar die cut and then adhered the Whisper White panel over the watercolor paper panel with those adhesive strips.

I peeled the backing off the Foam Adhesive Strips that I’d placed around the edges of the Whisper White panel and used those adhesive strips to adhered the shaker panel to the card front.

I adhered the die cut lid over the bottom of the jar die cut and Window Sheet with Fast Fuse Adhesive.  I die cut three branches from Garden Green card stock with the Pretty Pines Thinlits Dies, trimmed the branches down a bit and adhered them to the card front with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.  I stamped the bow image from the Jar of Cheer stamp set in Cherry Cobbler ink on a panel of Whisper White card stock and cut it out with the Everyday Jars Framelits dies.  I adhered the bow over the die cut pine branches with a Glue Dot to finish the card.

I stamped the sentiment from the Jar of Cheer stamp set in Cherry Cobbler ink on a panel of Whisper White card stock and then stamped the tree image in Garden Green ink twice without reinking to finish the inside of the card.

  1. Beautiful! I love shaker cards and this is a classic-looking one, yet fun and Merry too. Your detailing on the tree, snowflakes and embossing add depth and make it look so real! You always seem to know exactly what colors to use!

  2. Wow – the little tree turned out lovely because of all the steps you took to add color. I love all the little details on the card – the snow, the little bough on the top of the jar, the depth of the tree. The perfect wintery card! 🙂

  3. How stinkin adorable is this, I was just thinking about making a shaker card and here you are, thanks so much for sharing the details, off to make one
