Stampin’ Up! Avant Garden Happy Card

I used the Stampin’ Up! Sale-a-bration exclusive Avant Garden stamp set to create my card to share with you today.  I had a realization as I was stamping this card that I think that you could switch out the sentiment and this could work as a Christmas card as well!  The flowers look a little poinsettia-ish in this color scheme.  🙂

My card design is loosely based on CAS(E) this Sketch 210.

And the colors for my card were inspired by Just Us Girls #382.

screen-shot-2017-01-07-at-7-07-58-pm

I started by cutting an oval with the Stitched Shapes Framelits die from Whisper White card stock.  I added a tiny touch of SNAIL under the panel and I adhered it to a larger panel of Whisper White card stock.

I stamped the images from the Avant Garden photopolymer stamp set (Sale-a-bration item) across both panels in Real Red, Garden Green, Early Espresso and Smoky Slate inks.  Some of the images are stamped full strength and some are stamped off 2-3 times.

Quick Tip:  When stamping over the ares of the layered card stock, I simply placed the panel on a Stampin’ Pierce mat, placed the stamp on the panel and then held it there, pressing down just a little harder than normal to transfer the ink to both panels at once without the gap between them.

I pulled the two panels apart and stamped the sentiment from the Avant Garden stamp set in Basic Black Archival ink on the oval.  Then I wrapped Linen Thread around the larger panel three times, tied a bow and then adhered the die cut oval to it with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I adhered the layered panel to a Thick Whisper White card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals and then added three Rhinestone Basic Jewels to finish the card front.

I stamped the images from the Avant Garden stamp set in Real Red, Garden Green and Early Espresso inks across a Whisper White card stock panel inside the card.

  1. Amy,

The colors and design on this card is absolutely beautiful.

I love this stamp set and use it a lot.

I will be making this one for sure.

  2. Beautiful card Amy! Thanks for the tip! Well done 🙂 I’ve always thought that they look a little poinsettia-ish too — maybe with Crushed Curry EP (retired) centers?

  3. Oh I LOVE the double stamping on this!! I LOVE the colors you used. You totally rocked the sketch!!

  4. Yay, 2 great ideas for my newly received Avant Garde set that a good friend talked me into 😉 Thanks Amy!! Maybe I should start on the Christmas ones now, lol 😀

  5. A day late again (super long visit with granddaughter!) and started to look and move on but that stamping caught my eye! Love how you stamped over the oval–thanks for the tip on how you did it to get such clean lines! Hard to believe all those flowers are real red too! Super duper card!

    • Thanks Linda! I almost pulled out my MISTI for this project but then realized that with all of the stamping it would take me forever! Tried the trick with just holding the stamp down firmly (but not smashing) and it worked! 🙂

  6. Beautiful card Amy. What you did with those flowers looks amazing. Great take on that sketch and so colourful. Thanks for joining us at Just Us Girls this week.

  7. This is absolutely gorgeous and your instructions were crystal clear. Gonna CASE this ASAP as a thank you card for my customers who picked this SAB set at my workshop Saturday.
