Stampin’ Up! Night in Bethlehem for Fab Friday

I used the Stampin’ Up! Night in Bethlehem stamp set bundle to create my card for the Fab Friday sketch challenge this week.  Seems that the oval sketch with the sentiment under it is a popular one!!

Here is the sketch for Fab Friday 121.  Hope that you’ll stop by the Fab Friday Challenge Blog and play along too!

The sketch also works (again!) with Global Design Project #GDP104.

I started by stamping the star images from the Night in Bethlehem stamp set in VersaMark ink across a panel of Soft Sky card stock.  I sprinkled them with Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat embossed them.  Then I sponged over the panel with Night of Navy ink, keeping it darker along the edges and lighter toward the middle.  I wiped the excess ink off the embossed images with a soft towel.

I used the second largest Layering Ovals Framelits die to cut an oval from the sponged panel.  Then I cut the two skylines with the Bethlehem Edgelits Dies from Champagne Foil Sheets.  I adhered the two die cuts together with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals and then to a panel of Soft Sky card stock with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.  I trimmed the excess from the foil die cuts (they are too wide for a portrait card) and then adhered Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back of the oval cutout on the sponged panel.  I adhered the panel with the die cuts to the back of the oval panel with those Stampin’ Dimensionals.

***Quick Tip:  If you apply the Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back of your oval die cut panel right around the oval, you can see through the oval to position the background panel exactly where you want it.

I used SNAIL on the back of the Soft Sky panel and additional Stampin’ Dimensionals on the back of the sponged panel to adhere it to the front of a Night of Navy card base.  I snipped off the edge of one of the silver Foil Snowflakes and I adhered it to the card front with SNAIL.  Then I ran SNAIL down the length of Silver 3/8″ Metallic-Edge Ribbon and adhered it to the card front over the snowflake.

I used a Post-It Note to cover all except for the first line of the sentiment from the Night in Bethlehem stamp set and then I inked it with VersaMark Ink.  I removed the Post-It Note mask and stamped the sentiment on a strip of Whisper White card stock.  I heat embossed the sentiment with Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder and then punched the ends with the Banner Triple Punch.  I adhered the banner sentiment with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals to the card front and added a single silver enamel dot from the Enamel Shapes pack to finish it.

I stamped the sentiment from the Nature Sings stamp set in Night of Navy ink and the star images from the Night in Bethlehem stamp set in Soft Sky ink on a Whisper White card stock panel inside the card.

You can see a list of supplies, including card stock cuts, for this project at the very bottom of this post.

Head on over to the Fab Friday challenge blog to see what the other design team members have created.  Hope that you’ll play along too!
