Stampin’ Up! Merry Moose With Buffalo Check Christmas Card & Ink Updates From Stampin’ Up!

I used the Stampin’ Up! Merry Moose stamp set bundle and the Buffalo Check background stamp to create a fun Christmas card to share with you today.  The colors and the Buffalo Check on my card were inspired by a card made a few weeks back by one of my team members, Jaimie Babarczy.  You can see her card here.

My card design was loosely inspired by My Favorite Things Wednesday Sketch Challenge #461.

And the trees were inspired by The Paper Players PP466.

I started by stamping the Buffalo Check stamp set image in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on a panel of Cherry Cobbler card stock.  I adhered the panel to a panel of Basic Black card stock with SNAIL and then to a Soft Suede card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I punched the trees with the Pine Tree Punch from a panel of Wrapped In Plaid 6″ x 6″ Specialty DSP.  I adhered one with SNAIL and one with Stampin’ Dimensionals to the card front.  I stamped the moose image from the Merry Moose photopolymer stamp set in Soft Suede ink on a panel of Soft Suede card stock and again on a panel of Crumb Cake card stock.

I saw this little trick on out Pinterest from Dena Linneman.  I punched the moose images out with the Moose Punch and then snipped the antlers off the moose on the Soft Suede card stock and snipped a “v” shape from the Crumb Cake card stock moose.

I adhered the Crumb Cake antlers to the back of the Soft Suede moose with Multipurpose Liquid Glue and then adhered the moose to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I adhered a strip of 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon to the card front with Tear & Tape Adhesive and then stamped the sentiment from the Merry Moose stamp set in Soft Suede ink on a panel of Crumb Cake card stock.  I adhered the sentiment to the Burlap Ribbon with Glue Dots and then added three of the Basic Black Monster Bash Enamel Shapes near the sentiment to finish the card front.

I stamped the sentiment and trees from the Merry Moose stamp set in Soft Suede and Shaded Spruce inks on a panel of Whisper White card stock to finish the inside of the card.

You can see a list of supplies needed to create this card, including the card stock cuts, at the very bottom of this blog post.

Ink Updates From Stampin’ Up! Today

Purple Posy Ink To Be Discontinued

Despite our efforts to resolve issues with Purple Posy ink, we have learned that the ink color is still shifting over time. This means that the color is coordinating more loosely than we typically allow with our colors. Due to these ongoing challenges, we have decided to discontinue Purple Posy classic ink. As of November 5, 2019, the following items will no longer be available to purchase:

  • Purple Posy Classic Stampin’ Pad (item 150084)
  • Purple Posy Classic Stampin’ Ink Refill (item 150091)
  • 2019–2021 In Color Classic Stampin’ Pad Assortment (item 150087)

All other Purple Posy products (such as Purple Posy Stampin’ Write Marker, Purple Posy Cardstock, Purple Posy Stampin’ Blends, etc.) will remain available for purchase.

All of Stampin’ Up!’s exclusive ink colors are run through a vigorous series of tests to get ahead of challenges like this, and to ensure colors are accurate and meet our standards of coordination. Purple Posy did pass regular testing standards in time-simulating ovens, but we have now identified that it fell short when it came to actual time passing. The color begins to shift once the ink has rested in the ink pad for about six weeks.

It is rare for Stampin’ Up! or our ink manufacturer to have such persistent issues with ink; Purple Posy has certainly been an anomaly. We completed full testing on 11 distinct batches of Purple Posy Classic Stampin’ Ink before releasing the current version. We are now confident that no additional efforts would uphold our coordination needs over time. We appreciate your patience as we have worked through this manufacturing difficulty and regret that we are unable to share better news.

  1. Love your moose with that fun holiday plaid Amy and the extra detail on the antlers makes a real difference – a more realistic moose, for sure and very reminiscent of the great outdoors! Thanks for sharing with us over at The Paper Players this week!

  2. Such a fun card, Amy full of rustic charm! Thanks so much for joining us this week for my theme challenge over at The Paper Players!
