Stampin’ Up! Sassy Salutations Die Cut Holiday Cards

I used the Sassy Salutations stamp set along with the Snowflake Card Thinlits Dies and the Stars Framelits Dies from Stampin’ Up! to create two Christmas cards.  I saw a card made by Darleen Adamo on Split Coast Stampers and I loved the design so I switched up the sentiment and die cuts and went to work!

Sassy Salutations - Stamp With Amy K

I started by cutting one Crumb Cake panel with a Stars Framelits die and one Crumb Cake panel with the tree die from the Snowflake Card Thinlits Dies set.

I sponged around the edges of the panels and the die cuts with Chocolate Chip ink, then stamped the sentiments from the Sassy Salutations stamp set in VersaMark Ink and heat embossed them with Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Emboss Powder.

I used my Paper-Piecing Tool, Stampin’ Pierce Mat and the Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack template to pierce around the edges of the panels, then used the uni-ball Signo Gel Pen to create some faux stitching around the edges.

Sassy Salutations 5 - Stamp With Amy K

I used my 2-1/2″ Circle Punch to punch holes in two Chocolate Chip card stock panels (please excuse the extra strip of paper showing on the left side of the tree…I got a little wild with the SNAIL!!), then adhered the stamped panels with SNAIL to the panels of Chocolate Chip card stock so that the punched holes lined up with the die cuts in the Crumb Cake panels.

I wrapped a strand of Cherry Cobbler Baker’s Twine around the layered panels and tied a bow.  Then I punched 2-1/2″ circles from the Trim the Tree DSP Stack and I adhered them to a Crumb Cake card base so that the DSP would show through the die cut holes.  I adhered the stamped panel to the Crumb Cake card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I adhered the Crumb Cake die cut pieces from the card fronts to a Whisper White panel inside the cards.  Then I cut a tree and a star from the Under the Tree DSP Stack and adhered them over the Crumb Cake die cuts.

To everyone celebrating tonight, have a happy and safe Halloween!!

  1. These are beautiful cards, love the idea and the colors. However I am confused about the 21/2″ circle that was cut in the chocolate chip CS a. I can not get a handle on it, would you be able to elaborate a little more on that so I can get it this morning?

    • Thanks for your comments JoAnn! The Chocolate Chip card stock is layered behind the Crumb Cake die cut panel. In order to have the “hole” go through to the card base, I used the 2-1/2″ circle to punch out the space in the Chocolate Chip panel before I adhered it to the back of the Crumb Cake panel. If I’d left the Chocolate Chip panel solid, the DSP wouldn’t show through. Hope that makes sense, feel free to drop me a note if you have more questions. Thanks again for stopping by! 🙂

  2. Lol, great minds think alike! 🙂 I was thinking about doing something like this for my Christmas cards this year!! I really like the way the star and tree framelits make a bigger space and you can see the pretty dsp more than the smaller snowflake I’ve seen. I think that I under stand the instructions you gave to JoAnn, it’s all to see the dsp from the inside of the card as well, right? It will be on the top side, not normally written on, but a very pretty addition to the inside.
    I hope I’m right 😉 Take care & stay safe tonight 🙂

    • Thanks Jill! I’m glad that you liked the bigger die cuts, I thought they turned out nicely too. 🙂

As far as the DSP, I actually adhered it to the front of the card, not actually inside it. Then I layered the Chocolate Chip and Crumb Cake pieces over the card front. I basically made a “window” so that you could see the front of the card through the two panels. But the holes don’t actually go all the way through to the inside of the card…I hope that makes sense. I’ll try to get some pictures added showing how to do the layering. Sorry about the confusion!

      • So Awesome Amy, thanks for going back and giving such awesome instructions 🙂 Sometimes it is just the little things that we get hung up on….Bless you for taking extra time on such a crazy busy day, I know mine was (but safe!)!! Thanks 😉

      • You are welcome Jill…so many times what I type makes perfect sense to me, but I’m the only one that it makes sense to! 😉 Glad that you had a safe Halloween. Hope that you and your kids enjoyed it. I know that mine sure did! 🙂

  3. These are both awesome cards, Amy! I love the sponging and faux stitching, they really make things “pop”. Sassy Salutations looks great with the tree and star! TFS the directions.
